The majority of patients with a total lower denture complain that it is often loose and cannot be properly anchored to a jawbone when speaking or chewing.
Mini implants represent an easy and affordable way of firmly securing a total denture, and patients consider its use acceptable and imperceptible.
Most frequently, the system consists of four mini implants, which are placed into a jaw, and a special buckle mechanism securing the total denture.
After fabricating a total denture (patient’s old denture can sometimes be used), an implant is installed. The procedure lasts for approximately half an hour. The denture then needs to be adapted in order to accept the buckle mechanism.
The entire procedure (both surgical and prosthetic) is completed in just over an hour, and the patient can functionally use a well-fixed jaw as soon as the local anesthesia ceases.
