When it comes to prosthetic solutions such as crowns, bridges, dentures, the traditional protocols define a period of 2 to 4 months as necessary for the implant to be integrated into the patient’s biological system before the final prosthetic construction can be placed.
However, the latest scientific findings are more and more supportive of the possibility of immediate reconstruction and implant loading right after its placement. Upon a reliable 3D dental implant planning, and safe and precise implant placement, the implant primary stability is assessed and if the results are satisfying, it is possible to proceed with the immediate prosthetic reconstruction (crowns, bridges, dentures).
The reconstruction is carried out immediately after the implant placement or 24 to 72 hours after surgical intervention. This improves the patient comfort during the healing period, improves the speaking and gives patient a natural feeling with their new implants.
The patient is required to strictly follow the given food recommendations (soft food and liquids) and doctor’s instructions regarding oral hygiene.
Whether the patient is a candidate for that kind of procedure or not will be determined by the oral implantologist taking into account all the relevant factors.
